My name is William Carmichael and I am running to be your new Dennis Town Moderator.

The Cape has always held a special place in my heart. I fondly remember
yearly vacations as a child with my family. And, in 1981, I brought my wife to
the Cape for our honeymoon. Eight years ago, my wife and I retired to Cape Cod.

 

We chose Dennis for its scenic beauty, prime Mid-Cape location, low taxes,
and, every resident knows Dennis, has the BEST beaches on Cape Cod.

 

My educational background includes a bachelor of science degree in Outdoor
Public Recreation Management from the School of Natural Resources at the
University of Vermont. Several years later, I pursued a Masters degree in
Counseling and Security Administration from Long Island University. I have
worked 30 + years in public service with the New York State Department of
Corrections and Community Supervision.

 

My career started with implementing recreational programs and organized
sports. I then transitioned into counseling and classification. The last part of
my career was spent as an administrator facilitating meetings, conducting
hearings, and supervising facility programs.

 

Following retirement, and moving to the Cape, I started attending Town
meetings to become more involved and informed about our community. At
nearly all of these meetings there were instances where Town residents were
treated with disrespect and sarcasm by the current Town Moderator. It is time
for this behavior to STOP, and THIS is why I am running to be your NEW
Town Moderator!

 

In a Town meeting form of government, each resident should feel welcome to
attend and express their questions and concerns in an environment where there
voice is heard in a professional and courteous manner.

 

"This is Your Dennis, Your Voice" I respect and value Your Voice!

It is time for you to be heard at your town meeting.

 

This is what I fervently believe!

 

I am not a one dimensional or single issue person. I agree with many of our
Select Board members, and support many of their shared goals and platforms.

Among these include :

 

Affordable housing for every Dennis Family
Providing care for our Seniors
Modernizing our Wastewater Infrastructure at the Most Economical Cost
Keeping Our Finance Committee Independent, and free from Conflict of
Interest
And Most Important, keeping our taxes low through sound fiscal
responsibility!
